One minute it will sayi have a half of a tank, a few seconds later it will pass the full mark.

You have a loose ground on the gastank.
It will make the gage go up and down as you nit a bump.
Jack up the car and check aroung the full tank you see a wire screwes into the body on the sigh. You will find a loose connection.

Don could be right about the ground.But if he isn't.... Either your fuel gage on the dash is going bad, or the fuel sending unit in your gas tank is starting to die. When it goes to the full mark try slapping the dash above that gage a few times. If it goes back to normal when you bump it every time it malfunctions it's the gage itself. If not I'd bank on the sending unit. there are not that hard to do. If it ends up being the fuel sending unit,message me and I'll give you instructions on how to do it ,If you want to do it yourself.

maby the gas gauge just lost his girlfriend or something and is haveing a bad day

your sending unit in yer fuel tank is going or the wiring to it is loose....

bad wire maybe touching or sending unit

It sounds like you need to check your float.
