the people that delivered your packages should have gotten your confimation and should not have left the packages sitting there. this practice is becoming more and more frequent and you have a right to be upset. one thing you can do is dispute this charge if you put it on a credit card. a similar thing happened to me last summer and i disputed the charge.

Tampering with US mail is a Federal Offense, your neighbors could get in a lot of trouble and be innocent. If the missing items where delivered by the United States Post Office you should report the missing mail immediately to your Postmaster. I am not sure about other carriers (like FedEx, UPS, etc.) policies. When you contacted the carrier that stated they delivered your package did anyone have to sign for it (or them)? I suggest that you contact the business where you purchased the item(s), perhaps they had them insured (if so, you can make a claim to get your money back). I would also inquire about the company policy regarding lost packages. Then I would also contact the carrier and see what they suggest. I certainly would NOT confront the neighbors! That could be dangerous and it certainly isn't worth getting hurt, or worse, over some packages. In regards to the police, I would ask the Postmaster, or the person you speak with at the carrier and see how the process of reporting the incident is handled - in other words, do you contact the authorities or do they? Then what happens? A tip that everyone should use: When talking on the phone to someone regarding an important matter, ALWAYS get that person's full name and any other pertinent information, you never know when you will need to contact them again, or if you'll need them in the future. I wish you the best of luck!

First of all, track the packages. UPS, USPS, or FedEx all have websites you can do this on. If they show delivered, then call in to the delivery company, (UPS,etc) and ask if they can tell you where the driver left the package.
If they left it at the right house, ask your neighbors if they have seen the packages, and that they are missing. If a neighbor seems suspicious, then I would be concerned.
You may end up having to file a claim with whoever sent you the package, so that you can be compensated.
I work for FedEx, and this is almost a daily issue for us. Hopefully there was just some misunderstanding with the delivery. We have had, however, cases in which we had to call the local police to intervene. Hopefully that won't be necessary, but if it comes to that, it is an option.
Good Luck!

Why don't you nicely ask your neighbors if the saw any packages on your porch and might have picked them up for you while you were gone?

Call the delivery company and ask exactly where they were left. I've found packages left at my back door or in my car.

If the packages are being sent through the Postal Service, it would be very wise for you to put your mail on hold when you go away. If they are being sent through another delivery service, I would ask a trusted neighbor to keep and eye out for them.

thats a little weird but usually most packages arent delivered unless you are there to sign for them. i guess they dont do this with small packages though. i would talk to your neighbors. dont accuse them but just tell them that while you were out of town some packages you were expecting arent at your house. then ask them if they saw anyone unusual around you house while you were gone. then you should get somekind of lock for your mailbox. and next time you go away and are expecting packages ask a close friend (or a neighbor you trust) to come pick them up at your house for you and keep them in their house till you get home!! if your neighbors act suspiciously when you ask them about you should totally go to the police!!

if you have a high suspicion that they did take your packages, notify the police and press charges. at least report it. it is a serious federal crime. why pay for things that you did not even receive.

and yes, dont have packages delivered to your home if you know you will not be there. have them delivered to your work or a relative/friend nearby.

safer and more reliable.

If I have evidence, I would call the police because since it's mail, I believe that it would be a federal offense.

Just ask them if they saw the mailman deliver you anything. Don't jump to conclusions.

Well, without concrete proof, it's hard to accuse. Tell you what I would do... I would file a police report and then go to your neigbors and ask them if THEY had noticed any of their mail missing. This would put the fear of god into them if they in fact did steal your mail.

Peace!
