okay, I like to listen to emo music, but i like everything (except country, sorry!) I want to know what opinions are out there about all the labels being stuck to music. Most especially with the whole emo/punk/goth/metal genre. How do you feel about people who are so divided that there is such a huge difference between emo and punk? Do you believe there is a big gap between emo and punk? Are they incredibly different? My boyfriend thinks so, and everyone is labeled in his eyes. That person is a poser, that person is metal, that person is hardcore punk.....why such division? Any opinionated answer is greatly appreciated.

I listen to those type of music because I like it, I don't care what everyone else thinks. People listen to whatever makes them feel good. Music is like Religion, people make their own "cults" with their own principles just like Rock, there is a different type for every personality.

i listen to emo/goth/hard rock/metal and punk rock all the time, but im not emo or goth(but im punk), and i listen to a little country and rap, but im not a hick or a gangster, people just put labels on music to judge other people who listen to that kind of music. there isnt really that big of a gap between punk and emo either. both listen to rock, and i see alot of punks, goths and emos getting along all the time. btw, my girlfriend is goth, and im a punk, and we never argue about anything, or have any problems, and im really happy with her, and it seems like shes happy with me, so dont label anyone by the music they listen to, you have to find out more about the person first.
