I say like becuse I watched too much My So Called Life. I don't think "white" people always say Like, nor do I think "black" people always say knawmean, know what I'm saying.
Stop generalizing and just focus on you.

Not all white people always say "like". I must admit that I say it quite a bit, but I'm only one person. Besides that, it's not only white people, but also those of other races as well. Many people say it as a way to get more time to think about what we're saying. It's something like saying "um..." when you talk.

white people say "like" normally because that gives them time to think example if some one asked you a hard queston you might want to stall the best way we come up with is "like."

i say "like" and "dude" all of the time. It is just, like so kewl! that's not right to say ya know. not all of them say that

yea when other races immitate them they seem to twirl their hair, chew gum and say the word "like" every other word...its halarious to me to see black ppl do it.

That;s their way of saying "see'". we would say See what i mean, they would say 'Like you know'
