I have a Dell Inspiron 1300 w/ a broken LCD screen. I currently have an external monitor hooked up to it. What will happen if I remove the LCD screen to see exactly what replacement model I'll need? Will it affect my hard drive an anyway?

Thanks in advance

It shouldn't if the power's off, but I don't know what will happen if you run it with the screen removed.

Have you tried looking up the part on Dell's web site? Failing that, have you tried calling Dell?

I have had to remove many LCD from laptops. I usually take out the battery and the cdrom and the hdd most just pop out except the hdd which should screw out and the tray slides out. They you can remove the LCD . I would go to dell site for support on how to remove parts from a Dell laptop. Just search for your model on Dell.com and they have removal guides for just about every laptop they make..thanks

Nope. The screen will have no affects on the hard drive. Be aware, however, of the tiny wires that you're working with. Most of them were machine set and have never been touched by human hands.
