you have 12 identical coins in which one of them is Counterfeit "it could be heavier or lighter from the others "the answer should work with both possibilities .you also have a traditional scale "with two sides". You're only allowed to use the scale 3 times. How can you figure out which of the coins is the fake one ?

I spent like a day trying to figure this one out and I forgot it about an hour after I figured it out.
You can spend the fake coin anyways. No one will notice. You could also just use the scale more than 3 times.
PS: I am not smart.

Split the 12 coins 4 equal stacks find the odd stack.. weigh that stack split in half. your down to 2 take what you know is a good coin. weigh it against on or the other from the bad stack (pr) that will give you your bad coin..
