A friend of mine is a volleyball player she is wondering if she can go back to playing volleyball competitively indoors and out on the beach on team if she is breastfeeding. She knows she can't while playing, but wonders if she can on breaks

She also wants to know, what problem may arise from either of the following scenarios which she as been in: 1. repeatedly diving for the ball and landing on or breasts.
2. Having the ball spiked into her breasts

Not at the same time.
She would just have to make certain her breasts are firmly secured

Breastfeeding does not stop you from doing anything. And she can also pump breast milk so when she is away from the baby someone can still feed the baby with breast milk. Just wear a good sports bra or something that holds in firmly.

She is just going to have to be really sure that she consumes a lot more fluids while she is doing this since breastfeeding and playing volleyball together can dehydrate her more easily and can also decrease her milk.

There should be no problem with her playing sports, just the same as a breastfeeding mother is fine to exercise. Make sure she has a good, supportive bra.

i don't see why not, and she could feed if she has a break between games. I would suggest a good sports bra to wear. It's not gonna hurt the milk supply or anything, and feeding baby between games isn't gonna hurt either.

as long as she can stand it if she's tender, and also the let-downs (ie leaking)
if she plays beach volleyball, I hope she's able to wash the sand off before feeding.

she should be fine. however, tell her to try playing first. i play volleyball also and after having my son, just the difference in weight in my chest really threw me off.
