I've heard this quote said a few times with apparently no context. I know the author of it but not the original intent of the quote, nor of the citation thereof by most people.

Here is the quote: "Thus spoke Zarathustra." Nietzsche

Enlighten me.

The word spoke in the quote might correctly read as spake, but I want to minimize any confusion.

Thus Spoke Zarathustra: A Book for All and None is a book written during the 1880s by German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Hard to categorize, the work is a treatise on philosophy, a highly praised work of literature, and in parts a collection of poetry and in others a parody of and amendment to the Bible. Consisting largely of speeches by the book's tragic hero and prophet Zarathustra, the work's content extends across a vast range of styles and subject matter. Nietzsche himself described the work as "the deepest ever written".

When something that cannot be put into words is attempted by a great being, it can be very close to the best effort possible, and yet the inherent limitations cannot be fully avoided. So the subtle caution to look at the saying as an indicative hint, and yet fairly reliable one, since it comes from the Great One !

It doesn't have really deep meaning -.-

It appears 100 times in the book of the same name, it's some pedantic asshat device Nietzsche uses to indicate that a subject has been dispensed with by his character. That book sucks to be honest, and I'm a fan of neechee.
