Money is not a factor. Will XP Pro handle it and are there any motherboards on the market right now that support two dual cores? I am looking for either AMD or Intel matched sockets.
Thank you in advance :-)

Well, the first answer looks promising, but no evidence is given. Please update with mobo brand and model # if you have it.
As for the third answer, I know XP pro can work with two proc's but does it have issues if they are dual cores?

Thank you MysticMan for the details. The points are in your favor! Intel's quad cores are not going to be made available until early 2007 it looks like. I love the AMD info.

Right now there are, but they only support the server type processors like the Xeon or the Opteron. Right now you cannot get two desktop processors on the same board, that is about to change very soon though, AMD is coming out with what they call the 4x4 socket, which is basically a board with 2 AM2 sockets on it, so you will be able to run two dual core desktop processors on it, however it will only support high end processors, so that solution will also be expensive. Your best bet for having 4 cores is the new Intel Core 2 Quadro which is coming out in November, it is a quad core CPU, it will run on any board that supports regular Core 2 Duos. If you want more information I'll be happy to help you, just send me an email, its in my profile.

I read recently in the news that Intel has just released a four-core processor.
