Hi, now heres the situation! Myhubby had 2 interviews the job 1 offered £18K A year with bonuses etc, the job 2 £24 grand both doing the same things, job 1 - car allowance, sales included etc permanent. - start end of month.
Job 2 vehicle supplied tomtom, 90% perhaps permanent! - start monday

What do you do? We have 2 kids and obviously need the security but we really need the money!

What would you do??

And what would you say to let the geezer down!! My hubby spent 2 hours with both in the interviews and likes them both!!

Start Monday with the 24k job and see how it pans out, then explain to 18k opportunity that been offered job at 25k and can they match it, if they can go with them for the permanent job, if they can't, decision has been made for you.

Can you turn down a 25% pay difference for 'possible' security issues, you only have to work nine months to earn same as working twelve at other job!

Job 1, without a doubt. You say you need security, which job 2 may or may not not offer. Too risky. You need the money - job 1 offers a decent salary plus benefits (car allowance is worth more than having to pay tax on a company car, and how essential is a tomtom exactly, he got to where he was going all those years before satnav was invented, didn't he?). Just not worth considering J2 if it means he could be looking for yet another job in a few month's time.

How to tell the J2 interviewer? He has to be honest and say he's weighed up the pro's and con's of both jobs, and as a husband & father with long term responsibilities he's looking for a long term position. J2 interviewer might try to persuade him, in which case he should ask for a letter of offer of permanent employment. if that's not forthcoming, he'll know J1 is the right one for him.
Good luck in whichever he chooses.

I'd go to job 1; explain that while I really liked the sound of it, job 2 is offering more for the same job. If job 1 can match it or come closer, or promise the equivalent within six to twelve months, I'd go for it.

If they're not prepared to negotiate, I'd take job two, and work at being made permanent asap.

With 2 kids, I'd go for permanent. He can always look around some more after he has the job.

If theyre desperate for him to start on monday he should negotiate the car 100%, that could be his deal breaker. If not, then stick out for the end of the month a perm job is worth 6k of uncertainty.

Good Luck! xxx

Which job is a better fit for him? If you need security better take the job with the most secure future.

you don't say which job causes your man extra pressure. Did you marry him for love or security. Your children would surly love their dad more than loads of money, unless they are selfish brats.
JUST SAY TO THE OTHER OFFER-ER that you have given the offer great thought but your family must always come first. It might may him think. If not what have you lost. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\you will still have a husband and your kids will still have love.

I would take job number 2. It sounds like a better deal.

I would give a try to the 2nd one. It is permanent and will make you feel more secure.
