When moral values began to be of less importance, crude and obnoxious behavior rose quickly. Some may still be using the vulgar language for shock value, but I would guess few are trying to shock. Rather, the language has become so common place they don't even realize how vulgar they are are being, and how poorly they are viewed by those with any ounce of social concience.

More often than not it's usually men who use profanities and vulgar language when they are among other men. But in mixed company or in front of ladies, they usually tone it down. Don't know where you work, but you can't generalize without proof that people like to use vulgar language in the workplace. I don't think your bosses will tolerate that. And I don't think men on average like to use vulgar language in front of children and women unless he's really an uncouth and a cad. Where are you basing these unreliable and unsubstantiated observations anyway? Too far- fetched to be acceptable.

1. Depends on the women. I personally don't think foul language is okay. There is not a word in the "vulgar language" that can't be substituted by an equally relavent, but less offensive, word.

2. Because haven't you heard? We women are emancipated. We don't have to be treated with extra dignity anymore. (PLEASE notice the sarcasm here).

I general, I agree with a lot of the "rights" woman have fought for, but for the most part, it's sad to me that in order to assert our independance, it's become acceptable (at times, even preferable) for us to not be "ladies" and men to not be "gentlemen".

In my opinion, vulgar language is not appropriate in or around children, period. They pick up everything, and while it's cute when they pick up "grown up" phrases ("oh my goodness", etc.), there's something terrible about them picking up vulgar phrases. I adore the sounds of my children's voices, they're so sweet and innocent. But to hear a swear word come from them would just be devestating.

I am one of those people who will speak up if someone is using language that I deem inappropriate in front of my kids.

Vulgar language in the workplace is also not acceptable, and I don't think upper management in just about any workplace would claim it is. However, if you work in a job that has mostly gruff type characters, or they own the company, while you certainly have the right to say something, I wouldn't expect big change.

Keep in mind, the same right that allows them to use language that offends you gives you the right to tell them how you feel about it.

Foul language is extra convention than something. i haven't heard too many human beings clarify properly what the greek observe translated "rubbish" in some variations incredibly ability. Paul makes use of it to describe each and all the failings he depended on for status earlier God in simple terms before Christ. If *something* merits a stable foul observe, that is that. each and every so often I concern we are too well mannered for the Bible. that is not gratuitous, and that is not even used in many circumstances, yet there are surprising words used interior the Bible at circumstances. i think God meant for them to be surprising. i think of there is yet another verse interior the previous testomony with the which ability close to to the English observe p-i-s-s, which i think the KJ makes use of. it incredibly is clean that we are to no longer use God's call in ineffective, and that "coarse language" is unfitting for little ones of the King. yet i won't be able to locate something that asserts that a properly-located "foul" observe may well be used to snap human beings out of their complacency. Christianity isn't approximately utilizing the King's English or pass over way's policies. that is with regard to the fact of sin, the awfulness of dying, and the wonderful thing with regard to the Savior by way of fact the daddy's plan to rescue us. that is not particularly, besides the indisputable fact that it is the only answer to what ails us.

This may sound a little far fetched - and too conservative, but I really believe we are still feeling the repercussions of the "me generation", where individuality and self-expression, originally with good intentions, trumped out social norms like consideration for others and good manners, which were based on the collective, not the self. Common use of phrases like "You tell 'em!" and "Go girl" are reflections of individual behavior expression to the point of rudeness, and foul language was one of the outcomes. Other obvious sources are video games, rap music, movies, etc., but I don't advocate censorship, just come common judgment when it comes to interacting with others.

I've always felt that the excessive use of profane language was an indication of low intelligence. People who use vulgarities usually lack the vocabulary to express themselves in a more acceptable way.

I have been wondering this a long time. To top that off, men here is South Carolina will cram their jaws with chewing tobacco, make a hidious noise and spit a big glob of it on sidewalks and in the direction of a lady. EEEWWW! It goies to the over analysis of the freedom of speech, and trampling on of people's rights. No one gives a flying fig in a thunder storm these days. It is so rampant. My Bible tells me to always let my speech be seasoned with salt and tempered with grace.........and many more. It is because society as a whole does not understand that sensitivity should extend to the other person, not one's own self.

Why have you decided to generalize the statement? I do not like foul language, i use it less than sparingly and if i do so at work i ll get the sack. If a man does it to me he d better be tall coz i would slap his mug into another zip code.

foul language only shows stupidity, if you respect yourself and those around you. you wouldn't use it . it only tells everybody . hay here is a STUPID PERSON that has no manners towards anyone and is only TRYING to appear to have brains when in truth lacks the very thing he or she needs the most. would you want a child of yours coming up and saying f---k y--- mom / dad . instead of saying hay dad i love you . you know there is no crime in letting others know you care about them . let them know , cause some day you might wished ytou had after its to late to tell them face to face .respect others and they will do the same to you .
