I live here in Japan but do not speak Japanese . Our onbase shop is a bit late when it comes to the latest stufffs they sell so I was wondering if I buy the iPod video 80 gb in Japan store ( Apple Japan Website/ Amazon Website ) is it the same thing software-wise as in the USA ? I mean is it all in Japanese ? I know the iPod you can choose what language you want but with the software and manuals is it in English ? I tried to order off of Apple USA but they won't ship to PO Boxes which is what I am currently using and they said I have to order from Apple Japan if I want it delivered in my Japan address . Please help I do not know much about this tech toys so I want to be sure before I purchase anything .

Software wise yes its the same thing. I live in Japan also and have a Japanese Ipod....however I use the English Itunes to download software updates.

Realize two things though...
1. Some of the Japanese Ipods have different things on them that the USA ones dont (for example the solitare game).

2. If something drastic happens to it, you may have to do a bit of barganing with Apple America to fix a Japanese ipod.

If there is an electronics store there where the salespeople speak English?Ask them this question. They should be able to tell you how you can get the English products.

Otherwise, do you have friends/relatives in the USA or other English speaking country who could purchase product and ship it to you?
