i have a verizon and my friend tells me they cost about 2.00 a msg.

I have verizon and it cost I believe 10 cents a message... but you can get a plan that will give you I think 100 text messages for 5 dollars (again I think thats how much it cost for the plan.) But I do know it does not cost 2.00 dollars a message.
I just checked Verizon and it is 10 cents a message
Here is the price list for the plans for text messages 250 Text/Picture Messages $5.00
Unlimited IN Messaging, plus 500 additional messages$10.00
Unlimited IN Messaging PLUS 1000 additional messages $15.00
Unlimited IN Messaging PLUS 2500 additional messages $20.00

2.00 sounds heaps whether or not is US, AU, NZ or other type of dollar. Here's 20c/txt, in USD that wd be just over 10 cents. And there are plans where you can get like 500 txt for $10 per month. So yeah 2.00 sounds heaps.

I have cingular and it costs .10 cents to send .5 cents to receive.
My freind has T-Mobile and its the same thing.

you should look at your phone plan or even go to a verizon store and ask the people there.

omg thats expensive, I'm with Vodafone here in Australia and it costs me 25 cents per message to any mobile in the world...... my GF is with optus and she can send me 4 free messages per day without credit, so go vodafone and optus....
