Over a hundred miles from home my bike's battery gave out, and since my bike is fuel injected it's a royal pain to bump start. It took a combination of jump starting and a couple of laps around a parking lot to get the bike to start up, and at that point I just kept the RPMs up and boogied home. The story is that I was riding with a group up in Napa/Sonoma on a rather long day under a hot sun. Moving along I could smell sulfur, though since it was Wine Country I didn't think too much of it having visited a wine press before. After a long leg of the trip we pull into a gas station and I take off my helmet before going in to buy some water. At that point I hear a whistling in the vicinity of the parked motorcycles, and we track it down to MY bike. No idea what was going on so I take off the seat, and look around for the source, disconnect the battery hoping the alarm would shut itself off. Turns out the battery was extremely hot and was whistling gasses out a pressure relief hose. We pull out the battery and have it sit in the middle of the parking lot like it's radioactive, and when it cools down I plug it back in and start the bike without any issues. Things run OK until I shut the bike off, battery is weak so we needed a little bit of push starting to get the bike running. Still really far from home so after an hour or so we stop at a Starbucks for caffeine, and by the time we were done so was the battery.

Over 1000 in a large motorcycle group parade. Several smaller groups of 20-50 motorcycles... I'm most comfortable in small groups of 4 to 8 motorcycles. You have a chance to get to know everyone in the group, and how they ride.

Yes and it was great. It was about 1000 bikes and the road had been blocked all the way for us. Im in Australia and the ride was to Philip Island for the moto gp there. It was unreal it was bikes as far as you could see ahead and behind. We left from a place called Cranbourne and it took about 2.5 hrs to ride there. It was a 3 laned highway riding 6 bikes across the 3 lanes and you had all sorts of bikes from postie bikes all the way to big cruisers. The noise from all the bikes was electric. Its one of the best things you will experience as a biker. Go for it if your thinking about it but make sure your very familiar with your bike and you know it backwards coz you have to always be aware of all the other riders and controlling the bike should be second nature too you. Thats the only thing i would say but otherwise enjoy!!!

The largest group I rode in had 750 bikes. It was only a 10 mile ride but it was exciting for me at the time. That was in 2001.

Yes. Not as large as some. I usually ride solo. And just like Preacher55 said, that's how my sister and her husband got wiped out a few years ago. A so-called friend in the club just screwing around. The helmet strapped to the side of the bike saved her leg.

Yes, felt like a lemming waiting to jump off a cliff. If it's called a "rally" I'm out, I don't ride to make any political statements. On the other hand a ride with at most a dozen riders nearly all of whom I've ridden with before, I'm up for that.

yes , several times latest about a mont ago about 1500 cycles and there are two things to watch for, 1 not all motorycyclists are as good at riding as they think they are, it can be very VERY dangerous, and lot of fun, be sure your with a smaller group and leave plenty of room for the guy that you dont know ahead of you, he may be the one to cause the accident that can take out a whole bunch, key word CAREFUL, other wise have fun

Yeah & it's about the most dangerous ridin' you'll ever do. One screw ball can wipe out dozens of riders with one mistake. The whole pack can only go as fast as the slowest rider, if you want to keep any kind of order & the different degree of riding skills can make for a white knuckle ride.

Yep, it was great a feeling. You have to feel it yourself.
Words don't do it justice. Try a couple 100 bikes with No Helmets on riding by the Local Sheriffs office !!!! A head turner for sure...
