A niche market is a focused, targetable portion of a market sector.
By definition, then, a business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers. A niche market may be thought of as as a narrowly defined group of potential customers.
A distinct niche market usually evolves out of a market niche, where potential demand is not met by any supply.
Such ventures are profitable because of disinterest on the part of large businesses and/or lack of awareness on the part of other small companies. The key to capitalizing on a niche market is to find or develop a market niche that has customers who are accessible, that is growing fast enough, and that is not owned by one established vendor already.

a niche is a very small segment of a market that is usually not served well by the big corporations. Normally customers in a niche feel different from other customers and they are willing to pay a premium for the service they receive.

A niche is the people who would be interested in the product , service etc , that is singular to what you do, example; I educate on glyconutrients which restore peoples health so my niche would be to advertise to those with chronic health problems who understand what glyconutrients are and have an interest in alternative health care. These would be the people most likely to purchase my product or start their own businesses doing this because they have an avid interest

answer I am not an expert, to the best of my understanding a niche is something you work to get for yourself i.e "he really found a niche for his self", or if there is an area in the market where there is lack of product you can "fill the niche" with your product which also applies to first part of my anwser.
