spend quality time with him and get him his own bed...if you must throw some doggy bones to make him move do it...but that is feeding him his anger for more...let him know you cant sleep with him all over your legs so kinda tuck him into his own bed...pet him etc and go back to bed. tell him no dont be mean like NOOOO nicely say it and this should blow over in time. im sure you would be mad if your wife made you sleep on the floor
;-p

Who is the Master?
get a piece of sheet metal. connect spliced wire from the end of a long extention cord to the sheet metal. Place the sheet metal where the dog thinks it is king. Oh yea, put a littlle KY on the metal. Now this is the important part, on the night of the sacrifice, make sure you don't have any large electrical appliances operating (You don't want to hurt anything valuable). Now you are ready. As soon as the dog starts to growl, plug in. I quarantee next time it sees you at the foot of the stairs it, will know who is master. or you could bum rush him and smack the sh*t out of him as you "take the hill"

Sit on floor, have large supply of doggie treats. Invite him over. Do not smile. When dogs see teeth they think it's a threat. No sudden moves. Talk baby-talk to him and pet him in a loving manner.
He's doing his job of protecting the family. He's just not sure you're on his team.
If that don't work crack his skull with a baseball bat. If a dog like that decides to kick your a*s, you're in big trouble.

You going to have to bribe him with a treat that he can't resist.
You might want to change the sleeping rules for the dog. Buy a large sleeping crate maybe bigger than this one. You might want to think of putting it in a nice non draughty area of the house. Once 9:00 pm roll around put the dog to sleep in his own sleeping area. If he kicks up a fuss don't listen.

Slip Rover a "doggie downer" (go to the vet's office and explain or just use Tylenol PM, Simply Sleep, etc.) After he's off in doggie dreamland, drag his furry butt outside to the backyard where his new house will be located (the furthest corner of the yard, of course) where a large tree with a sturdy chain awaits his arrival, chain him to the tree and never let him back in the house again.

The dog needs to respect boundaries and that you are the master. If he ever thinks the other way he is a danger to you or your child. You must be consistent and firm. If he doesn't change, he should be destroyed b/c if you just give him away in that condition he could hurt someone else.

Hell i would be upset with your A-$$ too if you kicked me out of the bed. First off if i was named voodoo i would be pissed off let alone kicking me out of the bed!!1 The only thing you can do now is wait until the boss comes home (ie: your wife) and have her take you upstairs and as you walk by stick your tongue out at him.

A big dog who thinks HE is the boss and you have kids.... Not good. Grab some meat and get him to chase it out into the backyard for now. If you cannot establish that you are the boss he will have to go.
