He is a Doberman and quite large and he is loving towards my wife and 3 year old son but not me I think It all started When i kicked Voodooo(the dogs name) out of our bed And he has not been the same He seems upset ......I have to go to work and need to get ready and he is guarding the top of the stairs what should I do? my wife is going to be hear soon and i dont want her to be upset .........And my son is going to be getting up from his nap soon................HELP

Dogs are pack animals and therefore they strive to be the top dog in the pack.
You need to dominate the dog (not with violence) but by thinking like they do.
You should be the ONLY person to feed him.
Feed him AFTER you have eaten and put his food in a different place. (With puppies you sometimes take their food away whilst they are still eating) to prove your dominance.
I do NOT suggest that you do this at this time with your dog!!!!!!
The main issue here is territory. You MUST make sure that he knows that there are places in the house that he can not go.
And ....the big one.....there must be NOWHERE in the house that you can not go. To emphasize this... you need to stand in his bed from time to time, when he can see you.
Pretty soon you will be Top Dog again.

Who said you should be friends? You're his freaking MASTER!!! Start acting like it!
One of the main reasons that dogs go bad is because their owners don't lay down the ground rules and let the dog know that they are LAST in the pecking order around the house. Now you're dog thinks he's the Alpha male of the pack (a.k.a. Your Family).
You've got some work to do. And no, you don't have to beat the dog to establish dominance.

I agree with the last answer. It's your house, not the stupid dog's. There is no way I would ever let some stupid pet dictate what goes on in my house.
Whoop its ***. I don't care how big it is, Doberman or Pit Bull. Teach that stupid dog who is boss. If it bites you get rid of it.

Take control.Fit a stairgate if necessary and don't let the dog upstairs at all.
If it comes down to a fight with the dog,go in hard and bite him back.Now go show him whos boss!

I have had dobermans for years and they need to know who is boss. Stop being scared of your dog and teach him some manners.
Start feeding him pieces of meat. He won't bite the hand that feeds him. Good luck and stop being scared as voodoo senses it.

this is really a joke, there is no way i am going to have a dog in my house that does not listen to me. There is no way the dog should have more control than you do in your own home. good luck and God bless. lol

He doesnt like you. you need to let him know your the boss in the house.dont be threatened by him and dont let him think your afraid. now deal with it, you have a baby in the house.
