White skirts need to be kept in a tropical tank, with at least 4 other white skirts (5 is the minimum, more is better, they're schooling fish and do not do well alone). They need both heat and filtration, and need a 10 gallon minimum tank. The only thing that can survive in a bowl is a betta. What about getting a 10 gallon instead of a bowl? You'll learn much more about fishkeeping.

If you are looking for something for a bowl i would go with a betta fish, paradise fish, or a gold flame honey gourami. All other fish should have an aquarium. If you don't have heaters with fish like White skirt tetras they can devolop ick (parasite that attacks gills appers as white spots on the fish like salt).

Not sure if it would live for long in a bowl, and they are more of a shooling fish which means they prefer to be in a group of at least three, they need a constant temperature, in a bowl it would fluctuate. Try a Betta (Siamese Fighting Fish) or a Goldfish, they are more suited for bowl life.

Tetras are very fast, darting fish. To be at their best, they need room to dart and scoot around. They'd be quite cramped in a small fish bowl. A Betta would be your better choice. You can't have two of them, anyway, at least not 2 males. They do well in small quarters. And they're very beautiful. I think that would be your better choice.

i have had red barb tetras and they were hardy fish. i always had oxygen in the tank i don't know if they survive without it or not. 1 fish may be lonely.
