The USA needs a policy of "fair trade", not free trade.

Trade with communist China only promotes the slave system the communists use. China arrests political opponets, Christians, and those with opposing beliefs.

If china can't behave, and obey the WTO, then USA needs to end trade with them.

If they permitted equal trade then there would be no problem but they keep their currency undervalued and impose restrictions on what we can import to china. The time has come to break away from all that trade and move the cheap goods being made in china to other countries. Anytime so much trade is permitted to be limited to one country there are problems in the making. India and many third world countries can produce the goods as cheap as china if given the chance. China is draining our cash reserves and grabbing high interest debt from us. That must be slowed.

It seems that the Majority of Americans do support trade with China. Every retail establishment is stocked with products made in China, or has parts made in China, and they have no problem selling the stuff. Is it possible that by wal-mart buying the largest retail chain in China, they might actually sell some products from the USA?

I have just returned from my sixth trip to mainland China. My first trip was in 1991 and in each trip I could not help to notice the improvement in the lives of the people there. This is due in great part to the amount of jobs being available to people working in new factories that are making products for the world, not just Wal-Mart.

For example, in 1991, people traveled to work by bicycle in the thousands. There was a sea of people on the streets in every direction. In this last trip, I saw very few bicycles. Motorscooters have replaced the bikes and there are a great number of cars and trucks on the roads as well. In 2002, while in Shenzhen, I noticed that before the green light changes to yellow, it flashed three times and the yellow light flashed three time before turning red.

On this past trip, I noticed that there is a clock that tells how many seconds are left before the light turns either red or green. Both of these concepts would do well here in the USA to reduce traffic accidents and violations.

China still has a long way to go to help all of its people to achieve a high standard of living. That is coming though and trade with China benefits us here with lower priced goods so that we can have more of what we want and it builds for beter relations between our countries as most of the monies that China earns in trade comes right back here as (US Government) investments.

You might not agree with all the things you bank does but you don't think about burning it down when you have money in it. For example, just a few years ago, before 9/11, India and Pakastan were threatening to exchange atomic bombs. Then all of a sudden, the "noise" stopped. Wonder why? Well, it seems that a lot of US CEO's called the Indian President and reminded him that they had a lot of investment in India and that they would take there business elsewhere if India couldn't provide a safe and stable enviroment. This is a perfect example of the expression "Money Talks!"

Once the nations of the world begin to see the benefits of trade to themselves and their people, they will be less likely to lose all that they have accomplished.

I have talked to a lot of people in China about many subjects. By and large, they are happy with their lives and they really do 'love' Americans. A great number are learning English, there are signs in English and they are more than anxious to help you if you want. Much different than in Paris, that's for sure.

Yes it is our best weapon against them.Communism and Totalitarianism can not stand against a population that has money and wealth.

I see a lot of equal trade argument above me.Trade seldom equalizes. We buy more from China sell more to some one else and China buys more from some other place. The U.S. generates much more wealth than it can account for in standard trade goods. You also have to consider intellectual and financial trade like architecture, science ,research and development, banking and other investment.

Yes I do as countries that trade together seldom have a war with one another. However trade should be true free trade on a level playing field and not at all like it is. The stupid voters put people in office that are out for themselves only and care little of nothing for their country. We have a 9 trillion dollar national debt, I rest my case.

Yes, trade with China good for the American consumer get DVD players for dirt cheap, and electronics, but China undercutting American workers, and its part of the reason why immigration from Mexico increased. China currency is manipulated its undervalued by 20 to 30%, and they aren't playing by the rules of trade. Personally we should put a 40% tariff on goods from China, but then again were in catch 22 because of previous administrations polices regrading Trade with China, and we put tar riffs on China. Chinese investors will pull money out of America that funded the credit and capital for American to buy cheap electronics and fund mortgages. China is a nasty pill unions do not like it cant blame the. China destroyed manufacturing economy of Mexico and Untied States increasing immigration to the Untied States. The corporate lobby sees one billion customers in China too, but those investments are at the expense of domestic investments in the Untied States economy. There not black and white answers regrading trade with China , because of the fact increasing tariff will help domestic producers short term, but it could result in capital flight from America to other places more willing to take in Chinese capital investments. Economics is a science of human behavior, and all assumptions are theoretically true but other unknown factors and screw the results. We need to honest about Americans willingess to pay more for electonics and other goods, and the lack of domestic captial in America to build more factories and plants. Its a trade off with China, and both poltical parties know that and hide from the American public because Americans want cheap electronics and high traiffs with China will reduce compsumtion, reduce the amount of captial into the American finaicnal sector to give loans, and the public gotta be willing to take a hit on compsumtion with China for it. I dont see that happening since Americans always looked for the lowest price on goods.

I support trade with China. The Chinese are building a new MG plant in nearby Ardmore Oklahoma while the General Motors plant just closed down. I guess I do not have to tell you what my next car will be.

Yes, but we should consider strict trade restrictions on them if they do not get North Korea in hand. I also believe they should
honor the currency valuation. We should offer some type of
protection for our manufacturers.

IF the Japanese taught us one thing....they taught us how to be
quality minded. Our cars were turning into junk out of laziness.

Now Japanese cars are made in America, it was never the workers, it was the design and management.
