Most people love there parents, and look to them for acceptance. If you have a same sex partner you might not be able to hide that, and if you think it's the one you'll spend the rest of your life with, you want them to be accepted into your family.

What do you mean you don't need your parent when you're an adult ? Are you kidding? That's sounds a little harsh. I don't care what anybody says, we all care about what are parents think about what we are doing with our lives (not just our sex lives, but everything).

i don't care what anyone thinks of my sex life. as for my parents they died when i was a child and i've been on my own since i was 16..........but you're wrong about not needing them. i'd give anything to have mine back (mine were great!)

They're just being overly concerned parents. They are worried about your well-being. If you must let them know you are sexually active, just tell them not to worry that you are practicing safe sex. You dont' need to get detailed.
