In my book its a close race between Gary Oldman in Leon and Alan Rickman in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves - if only for the way he delivered the line about Christmas.

Would most definately agree with you about Gary Oldman - definately the ultimate bad guy, not only in Leon but also in Air Force One... both of them pure malice and evil!

This is too weird. I was going to say Alan Rickman for his role in Die Hard...and I thought I was going to be soooo edgy with that because I didn't think anyone would think of him and then I open your question and you have him and so do others. Sheesh. And, yes, his delivery is impeccable.
Otherwise...as long as I am not so edgy..I will go with the obvious...Jack Nicholson

I'd have to say Christopher Lee. For me, his most memorable role was in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy as the evil wizard, Saruman.
A close 2nd would be Ian McDarmid as Chancellor Palpatine (a.k.a. Darth Sidious) in the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy.

Either Robert De Niro (Max Cady) or Jack Nicolson (Jack Torrance).

Alan Rickman was brilliant, but not really that scary.

...yeah I've got to agree with you 'bout alan rickman, his role in robin hood was brilliant.....not very scary but that did'nt matter....I thought the scene where someone puts a scar on his bust...the look on his face was priceless......also him punching out the guard on the main gate...for letting robin escape....so funny...
