I have worked with this boss for going to 3years now. I have come to understand that he does have something against me, but I can't pin down what it could be. Right now I'm working on a project for his boss. So far I have reported to my boss informing him of the progress. The other day his boss asks me how everything (the project) was going cos she had asked my boss the same question and he said he didn't know. I was surprised, but before i knew it i was giving an excuse on his behalf, that he had been busy anyway. Later on thinking about our conversation, I felt I should have mentioned how he'd try to ridicule me each time i reported to him. How can i handle my boss?

You should have given your boss a written report and kept a copy of it for yourself. This way, you are not covering for him and it will appear that he is ignorant. Don't make any excuses for him not doing his own job. Don't backstab your boss either. It appears childish. Just keep a written account of your progress and when you report to him. His boss will eventually wise up.

You should sit him down and ask him what he has against you. If he can't give you a straight answer then I would go over his head. I would not let him get away with mistreating me when I didn't deserve it. So stand up for yourself. If it is a case of him being overly critical of you maybe pointing it out will make him see the error of his ways and straighten up.

Confronting your boss will do much more harm than good. It would be best for you to quietly undermine him at every opportunity. If you spread enough lies about him, people will eventually believe that "where there's smoke there's fire".

You sit down and see what the problem is face to face.
If that does not correct the situation you go to his boss and ask him for help on the situation.

Express this to your boss. If this does not work, speak with his. If you are still not satisfied, get another job.
