Of course it changes. IP address means Internet Provider address.
Does your address change when you move house?

Yes, the IP is issued from the ISP and will even different each time you log on as well. Unless, you pay for a Static IP address, then you will have a Dynamic one issued by your ISP, which means it changes periodically. In your case, you IP will be different... yes. But, your MAC Address will be the same, since it's tied to your internet card. People across the internet cannot find you by your MAC however.

So your ip address will change as farf as the Internet is concerned.

however, you will probably be Nat'd (your address will be translated) and you could leave your address the same on your PC.

Most of the routers these days support DHCP, so it should be fine.

SO the best troubleshooting tips are:

Open a command prompt and then type ... ipconfig

look at the data shown and you should have an ipaddredd, if you do, then try typing ... telnet www.yahoo.com 80

if your window goes blank type ... GET/
and then press return.
(you will not be able to see the text you are typing but it works)

If you get loads of stuff up on the screen everything should be working.

If you don't have an ipaddress try typing ... ipconfig /renew.

If that dopesn't work contact your provider, from this point on, the steps are really dependant on exactly what you have.

hope this helps

Yes it does change. IP = Internet Provider

Each Internet Provider (AOL, Comcast, etc) gives you an IP address, the number is usually unique to that Internet provider. You probley need to have yours activated, or maybe it hasn't gone through yet.

I would suggest giving them a call.

Yes your IP address does change if your computer isn`t recognizing it you need to call the 800 number of your new provider so they can walk you thru how to set it up

yes, each ISP (internet service providers) purchase different IP address from IANA (the company that sells IP's), so each ISP will have different IP address to give to its customers.
