At this time I rely solely on gasoline for fuel.
The ethanol idea sounds like the cure-all for our fuel problems, right now. That is because there are billions of bushels of surplus. When this surplus has been depleted, we will see a sharp rise in the cost, due to the rise in demand. And there will come a time in our future when we will not be able to keep up with the demand. We will be faced with the problem of using that corn, and soybeans for food or fuel.
Ethanol is just one source for reducing our energy crisis. There are many other resources that could be developed. Research and development is costly, but I know there are many people out there who could solve these problems if it weren't as cost-prohibitive.

You have a point.
BUT! I also know that at the rate we're going... there won't be enough oil in the world soon. Two words... Fossil Fuel. I support the ethanol idea, because it makes sense, corn grows back. And I really doubt we're shipping pounds of corn everyday to the starving kids in Africa.

because those people are only starving because of the actions of their governments...we send them food and their governments confisticate it and then sell it on the world markets pocket the money and then stand up at the U.N. and call us every thing but a child of God for not sending more for them to sell. rather be burning it in my tank than having it go to some Hugo Chavez type. Besides the corn can be fermented to produce ethyl alchol and still be used for feed for cows, pigs, goats, sheep or composted and the compost used to grow more corn.

Yes it would make us independent of forgine oil. we send all those starving children help everyday. it would be better to teach the parents how to grow their own corn,or teach them to fish then it would be to give them fish or corn everyday. I'm all for helping out other people especially kids however, we can't support the whole world if we can't take care of our own

no, there are other renewable fuels that would eliminate burning anything. send the corn to where its needed... would stop alot of stupid wars at a fraction of the cost.

If we make more ethanol, then we create more jobs in processing, transportation, and other businesses. WE create more jobs, and need more American made transportation to use it in.
WE do that, we will not have as many hungry.
