the other day i was putting a new computer tower on and my ethernet cable was ripped and the thing that i put into the jack was broken/... i have extra things but i dont know how to put a new jack on the cord?

You need an RJ45 'Crimper' you can get one at best buy. Your best bet an easiest fix is to just buy a new Ethernet cable, their fairly inexpensive. You can get a 6' cable for $7

FYI:
RJ45: name of the connector at the end of the cable
CAT5/Ethernet: name of the cable

Yep. You've got to have a crimping tool designed for the plug. If this is a one-time job, it's not worth the cost. Buy a new cable.

you need a crimping tool to attach the RJ45 connector to the wire. You can purchase at places like Graybar, walters, and probably on line. Google crimping tool cabling tools and see what you find.
