Well it depends on what kind of dream you have. But nightmares are usually somehting that you are afraid of. Maybe you are afraid of something, that you dont think about too much during the day, but then you dream about it and they are nightmares,.... I havnt been in my psychology class in a while.. So this anser may not be too acuarate.

You dream because you didn't fully understand whats happened in you're ''real awake'' life or partly don't know how to handle it in real life you just havent figgerd out, can be anything a problem or how someone reacted to you or what you have seen and dissagree with etc etc you are dreaming because is its a state of consciousness that you are most relaxed ''sleep'' you more likely to except .to your brain it Will become more clear what to do in a certain situation in day life to resolve or deal with.. Evan if it makes no sense what so ever in you dreams or nightmares.. it happens to all of us just simply we don't have the time to think everything over what happens to us in a daily life to relativity things it doesn't mean it Will really happen that's made up by people and do know nothing can happen in you're dreams or nightmares after all it are your own thoughts just in a movie way .. don't worrie its not as scary ment to be hope you can do some with it

Little goblins inside your head make nightmares happen. I did medicine at uni and vast studies have shown that it's little goblins inside your head. They happen as a result of taking in to many 'bad vibes' into your head which disrupt anti-stress one-way brain channels which make you forget to come to your senses properly while you're asleep.

I think nightmares are runaway fears... -Like shadows that lurk in our subconciousness, that come "out" when we sleep & the organization of our minds relax- to remind us of issues yet resolved...

Your brain is relaxed and the thoughts are uncontrolled...thus a mass of out of control images trying to make some form of sense.

things we cannot face in 'waking' life as they adress our fears, so they are pushed back. they come out when sleeping because we have little controll over or minds when asleep. have you ever tried to control a dream? you wake up pretty quickly. in sleep our minds are truely free, then the bad things come to light
