Answer all the questions you are allowed, vote on all the questions too. Don't ask many questions until you've gone up a couple levels & then it won't matter so much anymore. Reach your max every day & it won't be long before you'll be several levels higher.
The point system is explained. Just click on your icon, & look for the links to click on that show the number of points needed for each level. 250 will get you to second level.

Just keep answering questions and try not to ask too many. Remember every time you ask a question you lose 5 points. You'll make it. I didn't think I'd ever move up levels when I was 1 now I'm on 5. I still have like 1,300 points to make up to level 6. I didn't think I'm ever make it from 4 to 5 but I did and I'll make it to 6 it'll take me some time but I will do it and You Will Too.

you get 2 points for answering a question, and you just lost 5 points for asking that question! (and any other questions you ask)
10 points if your answer is chosen as "best answer"
You need 250 to get to level 2

Answer a bunch of questions, rate a bunch of answers, ask a bunch of questions... eventually you'll come up here to level 2... Oooo

answer as many questions as you can -- answer them well and hope to get picked as best answer to get 10 pts
vote unresolved questions - 1 pt each
don't ask questions - cost 5 points to ask
if you do ask a question, choose a best answer after 4 hours because you get 3 points back

Level 1 from 1 - 249 points
You need 250 - 999 points to get to level 2
You need 1,000 - 2,499 points to get to level 3
You need 2,500 - 4,999 points to get to level 4
You need 5,000 - 9,999 points to get to level 5
You need 10,000 - 24,999 points to get to level 6
You need 25000+ points to get to level 7
