Can a ring be resized to be smaller?

I know it's possible to make rings bigger but what about smaller? Does it matter?

Yes they can. I do it all the time (my finger is a 4 1/2)
Most rings can be resized smaller but some cannot, due to the stone sizes and placement.
You can take it to you local jewler or some pawn shops do it. Pawn shop here charges $30.

I used to work at Peoples a division of Zales for a quite a while so I would like to think that I can answer this question quite precisely.
Yes a ring can be sized down to a smaller size. This depends on what type of ring it is. A solid band can be sized down to any size. Where as an eternity band may not be able to be sized down at all, because the diamonds may be knocked out. Best thing to do is to go to a local jeweller and have them check it out for you.

Yes, of course...unless there is something in the design of the ring that would prevent it. Some rings would look funny sized smaller also. I had to choose a particular wedding band that could be made small because with a lot of them, the design (or the stones) would wrap down around my finger.

I wear a size four, so I get my rings sized down all the time!

It doesn't matter they can be sized up or down.

Yes it can. But make sure you don't get it too small because it's harder to get it sized bigger. (It can be done, it's just harder.)
