Fewer people are on the unemployed rolls, because their benefits have run out. Stock market just got back to where it was when Clinton left office. Is your buying power as great now as it was then? Has it increased as it did the previous 8 years?

The deficit is higher than ever. Six years ago we had a budget surplus. We are approaching 3,000 American deaths in a war that's end is no where in sight. Real wages are down. The cost of living is way up not to mention the cost of gasoline. Personal debt is at an all time high. Federal agencies cannot even do their jobs (think Katrina). Bin Laden is still loose and there have been no convictions for 911, while the perps of the 1st WTC bombing were tried and convicted. There are more indicted or disgraced members of Congress than six years ago.

I was better off 6 years ago. I had a very good paying job. Two years ago they did massive lay offs and now I have a job that is similiar in work and still 50 + hours but nearly $10,000 less a year.

The nation as a whole, no. The USA will continue to decline as long as we include socialism as part of our system. However, in many, many ares we are much better off than 6 years ago. Some areas, not so much.

Well I was personally b/c I was only 21. As for America, does it really matter we can't change the past.

1) the economy is much better now & heading up instead of down.
2) we are much safer than we were although not as safe as we thought we were.

Our economy is a lot stronger and more stable. But, we now live in the age of terrorism.
