I've met more than enough people, adults included, who believe for whatever reasons that the Rocky Mountains can be seen from Vancouver. Why? Haven't they looked at a map? How on Earth could someone possibly see them from Vancouver? Vancouver is in the very south-western corner of the entire country of Canada. The Rockies are on the border between B.C. and Alberta.

People tend to refer to all the west coast mountain chains as "the Rockies". They don't realize that there are actually multiple chains. They think that because they can see mountains from Vancouver, they must be the Rockies.

Hah, I live in the Rockies, like right in them. I'm 13 - 15 hours away from Vancouver, so yeah. There's no way you'd be able to see the Rockies from Vancouver. All those people are full of it.

i used to work in the tourism industry and you would be amazed at how few people really understand how big BC is never mind the whole country. i do live right in the heart of the Rockies and some relatives think its a day trip to Vancouver and back. it takes 12 hours to drive to Vancouver from here and 4 hours to Calgary.
ignorance is a wonderful thing for some i suppose.

That's right unless you are Superman, there's no way you are going to see any Rocky Mtns. From Vancouver. Briefly the Rockies Northern Reaches start at approx. Mt. Robson, at Jasper Nat'l Pk.on the East border of B.C. & Alberta. Your looking at over 300 mi. to Vancover , and heading South along the Rockies from there you've got five Mountains soaring 10k feet in between Vancover and the Rockies, on ypour best day you're not going to be able to see them, and they are 150 miles from Vancover. they must be Rockie Mountain High.

I hear ya. When people look across Lake Superior from Wisconsin, they always ask if they can see Canada.
