Wow. I think that is the best question I've ever read on here. Thumbs up to you! Seriously. I guess manually, but I can't wait to read what other people answer.
The first person who answered is really bizarre and creeped me out.

Each UK bus has two emergency door handles. The interior one is usually above the door, the exterior one to one side of the doors. The driver enters/exits the bus by activating these handles.

well, purely mechanical doors like seen on US school buses can of course simply be pulled close by a handle on the outside.

buses with automatic doors have a button to open and close the front door on the outside, usually under a locked panel next to the door. or it can be just a key switch. or on modern buses, a remote control.

Ummm.. I think that's the driver's job, but once he gets off the bus, ummm.... hey, ya know, that's a good question. Maybe they just leave the doors open..... :s

They don't, the driver has a button that does it whenever he wants to.
