All major cell carriers now have a prepaid plan ...once you keep it up for a specified amount of time you can get a real plan.

Try T-mobile, Cellular One and Cingular

T-mobile and Cingular have the best reception as far as I'm concerned but check out the plans and see which is right for you.

ask your friend or friends parents who they have for cell phone carriers. If your not in a major metro area you will need to look around at who has good cell tower access in your area. If you are in a major area look into the perks you get even on pre-paid plans. even you have lots of friends w/ cell phones be aware you will most likely also be texting so you will need to figure out what a particular company charges for text messaging and if they will offer a pre-paid customer a package deal.
do your parents (not sure how old you are) not have cell phones?

my son is 13 and i have had him added to my plan for well over 2 yrs. usually cost me $9.99 for his phone line, i get him a small text plan (usually less then $5.00), then the additional taxes you pay his phone usually runs me less then 20.00 a month. You generally can't get anything like that prepaid. I have also generally gotten him a decent Nokia phone for free or close to it. we currently have Samsungs and i pd .99. there not my favorite phones but it's a live and learn thing.

good luck!

I suggest going to a Verizon store and asking if you could check out their Inpulse phones, they have a pretty good selection to choose from.

Inpulse is Verizon's prepaid service. You get unlimited night calling (9pm to 6am) and unlimited calling to anyone in the Verizon Network. 10 cents a minute to talk to anyone that isnt in the Verizon Network or if it isnt past 9pm. 5 cents to send and recieve texts. Plus, you can buy the prepaid cards anywhere now.
