I have an hp/compaq d530 sff 2.8gh p4. When i try to shut it down or put into standby it gets to the point at which it would normally switch off then reboots. The only way to shutdown is to kill the power. Does anyone know what the problems is and how to fix it? Thanks.

try opening the task manager and watch what program doesnt shut down. If that doesnt help run a debug program like tune up 2006. Virus scan and check the disc for errors.

Turn the machine off , hold down F8 , this will now enter safe mode from here you should be able to look around for any bugs - also run virus and spyware checker - i use AVG www.grisoft.com its awesome.

if none of that works then either recover the machine or do a syetem restore this will put the compputer back to a differnt time scale of when it was working better !

Try these. They work and they are free:

Run the tool and then download the free spyware and virus protection programs:

Malicious virus removal tool:

Ad-Aware Free download:

AVG Download free
