I've been using albuterol in the hand held portable size and also with a nebulizer machine for years . I haven't had a problem with taste , though they do increase or cause a nervous or tense feeling for me.

Yes, albuteral, or any drug for that matter, can alter your perception of taste. Albuterol moreso, because if you technique with an inhaler is defective, you tend to deposit the drug over the inside of your mouth, instead of inhaling it.
Make sure you blow out all the air in your lungs just before you depress the button, and breathe in through your mouth when dispensing the inhaler. You should cough a little from the medication if you have done it right.

It can cause a strange taste sensation to the tongue. Your question is worded in such a way as to imply you already have inability to taste foods. If this is so, you might tell your dr.

Yeah, if the spray lands on your tongue. Tilt the inhaler away from your face and make sure your tongue is down low. Start inhaling and then activate the inhaler. If the air is already moving, less will end up in your mouth which affects your sense of taste.

Unknown. Try rinsing and spitting after treatments. See if your taste returns to normal.
