Just brought a battery cover for a Subaru Impreza (plastic & chrome plated), its for a small battery size. The battery has got 2 terminals on the top so the battery cover wont place on the top. Contacted the guy i had it from and he says put some foam under it and stick it down to make it even and fit. Anyone got any other ideas ?

the guy gave you really Micky-Duck advise. It was meant to make things easier for HIM, not you. If you follow his direction, you have the potential to burn your little car down, because the cover, if it has ANY metal in it can cause a short-circuit across the posts of the battery. The battery is capable of delivering a great deal of current during a very short period of time and melting the metal into a molten mass hot enough to cause real damage.
Return the cover you purchased, and replace it with either the correct item from Subaru, or at least a better fitting universal hold-down from a quality parts store.

Good Luck
