It would have to be "'Salem's Lot" or "The Shining", for me.
I stopped reading him after "The Tommyknockers". I made it through the enormous "The Stand", but "The Tommyknockers" put me to sleep. In fact, I put the book down for months at a time, before I managed to get all the way through it. That was the last Stephen King book I ever read.

Among the novels, I'd probably put "Salem's Lot" at the top of the list. But I really think that the short story collections are my favoroites:
Night Shift
Different Seasons
Skeleton Crew
etc.

The Stand with Salem's Lot a close second. I'm enjoying the Gunslinger series right now, took me awhile to get to it.

God, I love them all but I would have to say "Bag of Bones", "The Girl WHo Loved Tom Gordon", "Pet Semetary", or "Salems Lot"

My own favourites are Salem's Lot because it is REALLY creepy and Needful Things because the idea is so original and fascinating.
I wish people wouldn't be so crass i.e. giving answers like I have never read one.
