yeah, it's called being scared of commitment.
the time apart either lengthens or shortens.
depending on whether they're preparing 2 give some sort of commitment,
some do, some don't.

Yes it is. Men often feel smothered and they want to get away by themselves to think and relax. My husband likes to take the dog and go across the river. He may rock hunt, gather firewood, build a campfire and cook something, hike around but he gets away from me and the world. He comes back refreshed and better to deal with life and responsibilities. It is a man thing. Not to worry.
