Most Number 1 Hits

Most Number 1s
This, possibly, the most important record, is held by Elvis Presley. He has had 20 chart-toppers, 18 of them different songs ("Jailhouse Rock" "One Night/I Got Stung" topped the chart on two distinctly separate chart runs in 1958/9 and 2005). The Beatles are the top group with 17 number 1s. Madonna is the top woman with 10. Top female group is The Spice Girls with 9.

It is worth pointing out that Paul McCartney has featured on more Number 1s than any other artist. He loses out in this section due to his diverse range of credits. He has, in fact, appeared on 24 Number 1s; solo (1), with Wings (1), Stevie Wonder, The Christians et al (1), Ferry Aid (1), Band Aid (1), Band Aid 20 (1) and The Beatles (17).

Carey’s single is the new No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart: The song also is No. 1 on the trade magazine’s digital download chart thanks to a precedent-setting 286,000 downloads in its debut week. She had been tied with Presley with 17 No. 1 singles; the Beatles are the all-time leaders with 20. (Madonna also beat a Presley record this week, surpassing the King for the most top 10 hits with her 37th for her hit “4 Minutes.”)

hi, according to Joel Whitburn's Top Pop Singles, (Complied Exculsively From Billboard) and UK Chart.

The Beatles - 27 no.1 hits (in both UK and US combined) according to Beatles.com

Elvis - 33 no.1 hits (in both UK and US combined). Excluded "A Little Less Conversation" in 2004, because this is a remixed version by JXL. And all 3 songs are reissued from no.1 hits again, sould not count. according to wiki.

In my opinion, same song hits no.1 twice or three or four time, is still the same song.

Hope this ll help

George Strait has 60 number one hits (country hits) the most number one hits across all artists after he broke Conway Twitty's record.
30 more than Elvis, 32 more than the Beatles, 20 more than Twitty, and more than madonna, micheal jackson or anyone else surprisingly.
