This has happened to me before in the hot water pipe after I had turned the water off to do a repair.

I connected the blue hose from the washing machine to the outlet that the red hose connects to, and then turned on all valves. This flushed the airlock out of hot water system and all worked fine.

This was done on advise of plumber I called.

If it is in your hot tap, then go to your kitchen sink tap. If you have a sink deck mixer, turn the spout to i think the right side so the spout is over one of the tap handles, now try to pull up the spout to try to remove it fron the rest of the tap. If it does not work then turn it the other way and try again. Once removed, go and open the effected tap, or if all of the system is affected, then for both put your the palm of your hand over the hole where the spout goes firmly. First open the hot tap, then open the cold mains tap. You will find it hard to hold down your hand to stop water spraying but it is just for about 10 seconds, then close the cold tap first and then the hot. Hopfully it should work now.
If the problem is the cold in your bathroom then, first see if you can get someone to help, and then get a short piece of hose put one end on one tap then the other on the end of the other tap, again get your helper to first open the effected tap and then the other.
The idea is to get the side with more pressure to force the air out of the other.
Fialing all this, get a hose from a mains water tap and put it on the end of the other tap to force the air out.
Hope this helps

Get a piece of hosepipe that will fit onto your taps. connect one end onto the cold tap and the other end onto the hot tap. Net open the hot tap and then slowly open the cold tap. the mains pressure from the cold tap will blow through any air in the pipework. Finally, turn off the cold tap and remove the pipe from the hot tap and the hot water should run okay if not, try again and let the cold water run for longer.

Try running the tap at the highest point in your house, usually the bathroom tap. Leave it to run a while and it should force the air out, Good Luck

An airlock will not occur in an open system, such as yours. Only in a closed system. But yours is open. Just leave the water on, it will eventually blow out. In fact, turn all the faucets, both hot and cold, in your house on at the same time. Just open a little, you don't need to open them full blast. The key is to do all of them together at one time. (And don't forget any faucets outside the house too, and also flush the toilet while you they are all on).

That should do the trick. The ONLY other possiblity is to check your furnace humidifier if you have one, and/or your water heater.

Glenn's answer is good. It can also work if you put you block the outlet of a bath mixer with your hand and turn on the taps in the order he says.
