Regular unleaded gas will work but the higher octanes are supposed to keep your engine cleaner. My dad told me that the difference between the gas's at the pump is really negligible and he's been a mechanic for 40 years or so.

always run 91 or higher the engine is around 10:1 compression it was designed to run on high octane fuels not low grade crap. octane is resistance to ignite so it wont fire because of the engine heat alone it needs compression and spark.so 91 or better only you will get the best results

as a bike rider myself i use priemum unleaded i find the extra octane helps

all jap bikes run on unleaded but with you referring to petrol as gas im thinking you are in the usa so check at your local garage
