Because sometimes it can't be helped. It is a natural body event that people and animals do. aai try to do it descretely however sometimes it just slips out.

y be embarassed, in some cultures burping loudly after a meal is a sign of respect to the host,
im roman times it was considered good manners to be sick after your meal and then re enjoy it !!!!!

It all has to do with culture. Some cultures look at it as natural, which it is. Since it's so natural why hide it. Other cultures look at it as rude. I find it rude if I don't know you and funny as hell if I do.
