Could somebody please explain the movie to me, I keep thinking about it and I cant quite figure it out and its driving me crazy!

i didn't much care for the movie and i feel alone on that statement. it was a pretty forgetable movie.

Donnie is different.
Donnie discovers a theory on quantum physics and the possibility of time travel via a vortex.
He sees what life would be like if he didn't die when the airplane engine fell through the roof of his home.
When he comes to that point in time where the engine falls off the plane, he decides everyone would be better off if he did die. So he essentially goes back in time.
It's a loop. The engine fell through time. Donnie stepped into it (the vortex) the second time around.
Afterwards, everyone remembers what it was like. But they don't know why they remember.
I love that movie.

DONNIE DARKO IS THE BEST MOVIE IN THE ENTIRE WORRRLLLDD!
The whole movie is about time travel.
Basically, Donnie went back in time to save his girlfriend.
Because if had never met her, Frank would never have killed her, and Donnie would never have killed Frank.
Donnie's a sick kid, he's really messed up.
The movie is just about what would have happened, if the airplane hadn't fallen on him, and how things are related.
Its a tale or romance, time-travel, and comedy.
AND I LOOOOVVVE IT!
Watch it over again. After you've already seen it...it makes more sense.

Donnie is schizo. He sees what would happen if he hadn't died in a horrible accident. He sees that he will fall in love and lose her, he exposes a kiddie-porn freak, and he kills a man. So he chooses to die instead of hurting all those people and losing his love. BTW, she dies and he kills the man who hit her with his car.

i deff suggest everyone to watch it alone at night with some food then watch it again to understand the complete concept
