Will Mexico change any of it's tourist immigration requirements to match the changes that the US has made, starting in 2007?

Yes I heard that was going to be a new requirement! If not it is always better to be safe than sorry!

I read that 2007 is for Air Travel only and the following year will be for Ground.. I would get a passport anyway because you never know if you may need to fly back for any reason, such as an emergency etc.

NO PASSPORT REQUIRED FOR MEXICO UNTIL 1/8/07. Until that time all you need is your birth certificate (original with raised seal) and a "government issued photo ID" - such as a state issued driver's license - NOT an ID from work.

And for what reason do you prefer a passport to pass between the U. S. and Canada ?? Its merely yet another diss by way of the U. S. to Canadians it is going to decelerate commerce between the two countries rigidity issues for trucking and merely be a non required impeadence.. It grew to become into by no skill ever required till now and it isnt now. merely yet another metheod of controll by way of the Bush Goverment to provide up the hundreds of terrorists that flow into the U. S. from Canada i think,, That and the mad cows..

Yes. you will not be permitted access to Mexico without a passport. You will not be permitted to leave the US to Mexico.
