You probably should have stopped sooner, but you know you stopped and that is great, you did the right thing, if people judge you then just ignore them. Good Luck

My husband works at an adult foster care home for developmentally disabled people. One girl there is a full-blown adult, but you can tell there is something wrong by looking at her. She cant learn or absorb things well at all. She basically has and will always have the brain of a 13 year old. She can never live on her own and be a functioning member of society. Her defect is not a result of genetics. Its a result of her mother drinking while pregnant. How can you ask if you did the right thing by quitting when you did? The RIGHT thing to do would have been to quit right away. Your child does a lot of important developing in the early months, and if you were drinking daily, you were poisoning your child. I wish your poor baby the best of luck, and hope you are prepared to take care of this baby, no matter what problems may arise, because they will be your doing.

Yes, I do think that you should have stopped awhile ago. But, on the other hand, it's a good thing that you stopped drinking instead of just drinking the entire time. Plus, it really depends on how much you were drinking in the first place. I aint no doctor, and the doctor told me that one class of wine or one beer wont hurt. It's actually good for you. If you were to have kept drinking, and it would have showed up in your baby's blood, you could risk losing your baby. So be careful, and think of all the consequences when you do something. I give you good credit for stopping, even if it could have been done sooner.

What advice do you need? Of course you should have stopped sooner. There is no amount of alcohol that is considered safe in pregnancy, and your pediatrician (no one else) needs to know about your drinking. Certainly you have done the right thing to stop now, and hopefully you have saved your baby from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. If you feel the need to drink again during the pregnancy, get help from a friend, or call your local AA. Good luck, and God Bless!

It's a good thing that you stopped drinking. It has only been two weeks, are you sure you won't start again before the baby is born? You know that you should have stopped sooner. Now you need to prepare yourself for the possible damage you have done to your child. I suggest you speak to your dr about this if you haven't already. Attend some AA meetings as well, it's obvious that you have a drinking problem.

It was great to quit now, but sooner would have been better. There are several things that would have a direct effect on your baby. Nobody's perfect that's for sure.
The amount you drank would be a consideration, as well as what you drank. Say you were drinking 1 beer a day would not be as much of a concern as drinking a 5th a day.
The most important thing to know is take care of yourself the best you can, because in turn you are taking care of the baby.

I think you know the truth that you should have stopped as soon as you found out that you were pregnant and want people to tell you that it's ok that you didn't. It isn't ok that you didn't but I guess better late then never. Good luck and I hope your baby doesn't have fetal alcohol syndrome.

Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) describes a spectrum of permanent and often devastating birth-defect syndromes caused by maternal consumption of alcohol during pregnancy. The main effect of fetal alcohol exposure is brain damage. This can be caused during any trimester, because the fetus's brain continues to develop throughout the entire pregnancy. The brain damage is often accompanied by, and reflected in, distinctive facial stigmata.

It dosen't really matter what we think now or at any time, but since you asked;
Yes you should have stopped sooner. Sooner being when you found out you were pregnant. The fact that you stopped only two weeks ago and you're seven months preg. I would go get yourself and your baby checked out. See if it hasn't harmed him/her, but even with doing that you won't really know the effects until the birth of your child.
Good luck and may God bless......

Yes, I do believe you should've stopped drinking when you found out you were pregnant. I know from experience that its hard to let go of things your used to doing regularly because your pregnant. I'm 4 months prego and I had to get sober also when I found out I was prego, but its more of a self discipline issue. You could really damage your child with alcohol. Your baby could very well go through withdrawl from alcohol now, not to mention birth defects. You brought that child into this being and it did not ask to be given alcohol. Your not doing for yourself anymore, you have a baby that depends on YOU. I hope you stay strong enough to remain sober. If you cant, get help. Good Luck.

Yes, you should have stopped sooner. It sounds like you know this, because you say yourself that you wish to not be judged.

It is good you have quit now. No point in dwelling on your guilt, you need to peaceful now until you are due. Make sure you are eating well, take a multi-vitamin, and additional vitamins A and B, as well as any others specifically for pregnant women. Pray for your child, stay healthy from now on and hopefully everyone involved will be healthy and happy!
