Regular laundry soap is harsh and will break out the baby , some people get rashes from certain kinds. The ingredients are not for babies that is why there are laundry soaps for them ..

Lye content mostly.
Most baby soaps contain less dyes, deodorants, chemicals, etc. The best baby laundry detergent is DREFT, if that's not around, use IVORY soap shavings or detergent. These detergents are made to be gentler on the softer, more sensitive skin of babies.

Laundry soap for babies don`t have all perfumes and all the harshness that regular laundry soap has. That why I used Dreft for my babies until they got older then it didn`t make that much difference but it will a baby as their skin is so sensitive.

In baby detergent, there are no harsh dyes and perfumes. Everything is hypoallergenic because their little skin is so sensitive. However, at around 9 months, you can start trying other detergents on them to see if their skin can tolerate it.
