As we all know, if God had meant people to fly, he would have given them a airplane ticket.

Airplane! the movie came out in 1980. in my opinion it is one of the funniest movies made. therefore the answer to your question would be that airplane is purely for entertainment. its a good movie i recommend seeing it.
