We can't save the world. People should be able to enjoy their pets. But it is sad to know that some animals are treated better than some children.

Because to a lot of people, their pets are their children. Whether it's for convenience, biology, or other reasons, this is their best or only option for a living soul to give their love to. Also, some people think that these starving children aren't theirs, thus they aren't their concern. Or they don't see the needs of the children, but they see the needs of their pets everyday, and are therefore reminded of these needs more.

last time i checked you could go just about any where and buy an animal for a hundred dollars or so and then all you have to do is feed and water it and play with it when you feel up to it that's why its a pet not a kid!! why do people keep askin these questions as though they can save the world? having a pet or not having a pet isn't the real issue regardless if i have 5dogs or not... there will still be hungary kids in America, in the world.

Because on the whole, pets are more lovable, sweeter and dependable than people.
I think a better question would be, why are people constantly having more children if there are so many that are already here and starving?
Can you tell me what *you* are doing to help starving children? I assume you aren't going to have any children and instead you're going to adopt one or more of these starving children, right?

why do people spend loads of money on designer clothes?expensive meals?a nice house? pets become a part of peoples families. its just the way the world is. i give money to charity when i can and im a single parent and have pets. i dont like misery in the world like many people. sadly i dont think famine and homelessness will ever be solved.

i have to agree with a lot of the comments i love my pets but i"m also a hunter and only hunt for food. dogs are only animals a sick animal should be put away unless it is your pet and you choose to care for it,but all these stray dogs that are sick put them away and spend the money on are people

thats a question u shouldnt even ask its obvious..human greed..i have many pets and i dont give money much to charities...pets bring me joy giving money that i see nothing back for does not make me feel good. its the same way with anyone.

Pets can be easily trained and are very loyal. People bring hassle.
Also pets can be put in kennels when owners wish to go on holiday.
Governments should do more to help their own people, by giving them the means to make their own food, etc

why do so many people spend money on anything?? clothes... shoes.. cell phones.. computers... right now you are spending money by having the internet - you could cut your internet and sell your computer and use that money to fill your local food bank...
if people chose to buy big cars or spend money on their dog - that is their choice... if somebody who is poor decides to have or keep a kid they cannot afford to feed - that is their choice...
the world is terribly over populated with people as it is... 6.5 BILLION PEOPLE and growing - it is disgusting... we are killing the planet - raping its resources and there is no need to be making so many more people.... we are not an endangered species.. however we will be if we contiune to destroy the enviroment by our vast numbers...
