An interesting bird is the Pelican,
His beak holds more than his Belican.
He can hold in his cheek,
Enough food for a week,
I'm damned if I know how the Helican.

When I was in high school a friend of mine caught one in Edisto Island, South Carolina. He brought it back to our shower and ended up breaking the Pelican's neck by mistake.

We threw it in the dumpster as our moms were cooking us plenty of crabs and shrimps upstairs.

I'd love to try eating a roasted Pelican. My guess is that it would be a darn fine meal.

Pelican tastes a bit like albertross crossed with a petrel. Puffin is much tastier if you can get hold of one, kind of like penguin, but a bit more kingfisherry.

child, what ARE you thinking? Do you have ANY idea what those things have eaten? The amount of pollution in the ocean and therefore in their food, is enough to make you yak. You really don't want to do that.

I don't know if they're protected, but I don't recommend enticing any over, either.

They stink to high heaven - bill full of rotting fish, and all.
