Yes. It's just your body preparing for childbirth .......Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting" by Heidi Murkoff. It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. I refer to it almost daily right now and I am due Feb 2, 2007. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

Yeah. That is called the Braxton Hicks Contractions. They feel like the real thing but are not. The only difference is the Braxton Hicks Contractions come and go at an irregular pace and the Labor Contractions are regular and stay.

Braxton Hicks are the most probable cause. They are your body's way of preparing for giving birth. The hicks are "practise" contractions of your uterus. They are named after John Braxton Hicks, an English doctor who first described them in 1872. Play it safe and don't try to make the diagnosis yourself. If you haven't hit 37 weeks yet and you're having four or more contractions in an hour call your triage or midwife immediately. See sometimes men know a little about these things ;-)

Yes it sounds like false contractions called Braxton Hicks. I had them with both of my pregnancies. If she starts balling up every 2-3 minutes and you have severe pain or your water breaks you definitely should call your doctor.

These are Braxton Hicks contrations. Real contractions feel more like menstral cramps that sort of wash over you like a wave.
