The yellow fuzz on the tennis balls has frayed out some, and appears to be affecting the aerodynamic performance of the balls while in flight. Should I shave them so as to alleviate the problem?

It's completely true that tennis balls can get too fuzzy too soon and adversely affect the flight of the ball.

However, shaving a tennis ball is way too difficult.

Fortunately, there's a much easier solution...

Buy an inexpensive butane lighter and singe the fuzz off the ball. This works very well, very quickly, and very easily.

Smooth balls do glide above the net a little better, but maybe you should upgrade your balls. I heard that some black guys got together and are selling HUGE balls with no fuzz to interfere with your game. Good Luck With Love.

Actually, I would recommend stopping at shaving the tennis ball bag. If you shave the tennis balls themselves, it could really get messy.

Shave....no. But the hairs don't really affect the ball unless they've been used a lot. In that case, try a new one? : )

No, I think you should let your dog chew and lick your old fuzzy balls and then buy new ones

You betcha!

The only time your balls will go bad is when they turn blue.
